In the kitchen with Phlip -- Garlic Lemon Butter Shrimp

Wait... "In the kitchen," on a THURSDAY?!!?

Financial hardships, having food to cook in the house and all of this damned ability in these bones is MOTIVATING!
Anyway, back to the task at hand, I was cooking something. Also know that this LOOKS easy because it IS easy.

You will need...

1/2 cup of butter (that's one stick if you didn't know)


1 tablespoon, minced garlic.


2 tablespoons each, lemon juice and water (not pictured)


1 smallish onion, I chose a sweet yellow one


1 pound of shrimp, you can choose raw or cooked, just know that cooked finishes faster.


That's ALL you need in the toolkit... I am only speaking to the main course this time, we'll talk side items after I'm done...

Cut up the onions, don't DICE them, just cut them into manageable size pieces.


Start by lining the bottom of the pan LIGHTLY with oil, and turning the heat onto about 6... While it heats, cut the stick of butter up into no less than 10-12 pieces and have it close by.


Now, in the 30 seconds that took you to do, go ahead and put the onions into the pan to sautee.


And know that you will not have to cook these as FAR as you might have with anything I have instructed you through cooking, stop when they're about here.


Now add the butter and garlic, melt them down with them, still on about 6 heat.


Butter melted, add the water and lemon juice, then bring to a boil.


AS SOON AS IT BOILS, remove from the heat, stir in the shrimp, stir it good to make sure it is coated in the sauce.



You're done now, move it to the back burner and turn the temp down to low.

As far as side items, you basically need a starch. The best choices to use would be rice or noodles of some sort. Frankly, dishes such as this are one of the BEST reasons to actually have Ramen noodles in your house if you're not poor or a college student. Yes, I have several packages and I am not either.
I chose rice this time. I only used 1/3 cup uncooked, though, since I was not cooking a ton of food this time. I also made some broccoli that I had in the fridge as well.
Pour the shrimp and sauce over the rice, beside the broccoli, and enjoy.



THAT'S IT!!!
This cooking shit really isn't hard. This dish especially... If that SEEMED easy, it is because it was. Seriously, if you plan ahead by removing the tails from the shrimp, cutting everything ahead of time and have it ALL on the counter and ready for action -- and preparing the broccoli and rice at the same time WHILE you do this -- you'll be ready to eat in about 25-30 minutes.

Damned tasty to boot.
